Greyscale Issue 5, 3rd June 1999 Contents: Editorial ********* Ladies and gentleman, Welcome to another edition of Greyscale. Do you remember 2 weeks ago? Yes? Do you remember me asking for you to write in about what you think should happen to Greyscale? One single person e-mailed me with an idea - thanks Thez - and that didn't come out. So instead of requiring you to actually use keyboards, I am going to do this the easy way. At Greyscale's home site at http://www.blacknwhite.net/grey/ at the very top of the page is a poll. For anyone with a chronic allergy to the web-page, you can also visit it at http://apps3.vantagenet.com/zpolls/poll.asp?id=9527171643. This weeks poll is asking how "Newsy" you want us to be. Please vote. The poll will change next issue. Back in the real world, Poor 'ole Aquarion is suffering his exams, ready for Uni in the autumn. Just think, by the time B&W comes out I'll have free access to the net. Woo. BTW: For all you UK people out there, B.T have gone into talks with OFTEL (-the regulatory body for Telecommunications, fact fans!-) to ask if they can do un-metered local calls! Woo Hoo!. Visit www.unmetered.org.uk for information on what this will mean. One more moan, You may have noticed that Greyscale looks the same as it always did, No fancy HTML. This is because 1 person replied to the GS Extra I sent, and there is no point in me doing a separate newsletter for one person. Sorry. Finally, Our illustrious Poll-Person, Eugenia, is looking for ideas for the next Black & White poll. Anybody with any ideas could submit them to me at Greyscale@Aquarion.freeserve.co.uk and I will give her a list of your suggestions. News **** What can I say? On the plus side, There has been no talk of horrible arguments within the Lionhead camp, or of war breaking out between the Programmers and the Graphics Artists, with the Testers hiring themselves out to the highest bidder - mersanary style -, There is, in fact, no news on Black & White whatsoever. On the fan-site front, however, BWWire got a whole load of video - 46megs, which promptly exploded their bandwidth (...amount of stuff coming off their web-site..) to such a point where Non had to remove them. They are now back up there, along with a new Mirror Site at http://www.BWWire.com. In other news, Greyscale itself is launching a Link Exchange system on it's web-site, whereby each site is listed on our links page, and each site is also put into a script that places a link at random on our front page. All we ask in return is that you link to us from your links page. If anybody is interested please send your URL and a 30*90 picture to me at Greyscale@aquarion.freeserve.co.uk. Letters ******* No letters. Not a single one So, my decision is this, Each issue I will sent a topic, and you write in about that topic - as well as suggestions for the next topic - and anything else you want to say about B&W. Lets see if this works. Next Issues Topic Is: What do you think Reviewers will attack in Black & White's Reviews? So get writing folks! Story ***** The Story So Far:Bob, a humble wood-cutter, has had his pet Bobo stolen by a Black Sorcerer. A local Wise Man has found some information that might help in a book called "Titanic Tales".. Wilbur took a long look at the pages of the old book, his face grimacing as if he tried to remember. "Ahhh yes..." he slowly said, resting his old body back against the chair "the titans... now I remember who gave me this book" his eyes glazing over, remembering quieter times. "he he" he coughed, "it's only a tale" his voice lowering to a whisper. "Long ago, long before any of you where born" he pointed his old bent fingers at the crowd. "A man visited our village, Larmonn was his name. He claimed he was traveling from another realm." Wilbur smirked "That my children was why he soon got the name most elders remember him by...'Larmonn the mad'" THE END... So Far... Who on Eden is Larmonn? Can he help Bob find Bobo? Answers on a postcard please... Well done to Brian Dyg Arp for that entry. For those of you curious to see the other entries, or anybody who wants to read the previous stories Go to Http://www.blacknwhite.net/grey/index.html.
