So this is more speculative fiction than anything, but i had to write it
down, so bear with me :)
Consider this:
1.Alice writes about a post in Bob's blog
2. When she presses the submit button, a little window appears
"You've written about my post at http://bobsblog/bobpost
Would you mid to rate it?
1. Funny
2. Insightful
3. Dumb
4. Informative
5. Useless crap
3. Alice is delighted and selects 4.The post goes on.
4. Richard reading Bob's post is amazed to discover 18 different people
found that crap informative.
And this:
1. Susan writes about a post is Alice's blog
2. When she presses the submit button, a little window appears
"You've written about my post at http://alicesblog/alicepost
Would you mind to rate it?
1. 1 star
2. 2 stars
3. 3 stars
4. 4 stars
5. 5 stars
3. Susan thinks "WTF?!" and then notices the "don't bug me anymore"
checkbox. She checks it and closes the window.
4. Reading her blogware docs, Susan is relieved to discover than "rating
other's posts" is an entirely optional feature, that she quickly
proceeds to disable, thank you very much.
Meanwhile, in Bob's pingback description file this little bit sleeps,
waiting for someone to ping and wake it up
