well, that's the least of the problems with the idea. In that case you
stop multiple pings from the same IP with different source URIs
(different posts) in a brief period of time (during the same phase of
the moon while you are dancing in a grass skirt), but allow them through
if they are all from the same source URI (that is, the same post). And
then you get to worry about spam posts with links to hundreds of posts
on your weblog.

The real bitch is the amount of admin you have to do just to keep track
of what IPs are pinging when.
